True art captures the spirit of life.
Jupiter, FL based artist Karen Quartarone Lewis grew up in rural Connecticut. She loved to draw and craft from a very early age and learned to paint in acrylics as a teen. After high school she attended the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale for Fashion Illustration, where she graduated with a Highest Achievement award. She has illustrated for Jordan Marsh department store in Miami, created ads for an automotive advertising agency, and sculpted for a ceramic mold company. During this time she continued to pursue her love of the fine arts though pottery, stained glass, and photography. She began doing pencil portraits on commission while obtaining a second degree in Occupational Therapy. Later on, when she began painting with oils, she found herself gravitating toward portraits.
